Damar Hamlin, a Buffalo Bills athlete, suffered a heart attack on Jan. 2 and his uncle Glenn told CNN that he looked to be “going upwards.” The 24-year-old collapsing on the field after tackling another player during Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals is presently in serious condition. “They drugged him only to give him a better chance of healing. We’re simply taking each day as it comes. “It appears like he’s heading higher in a favorable way,” a family member of Damar told the publication on Jan. 3.
Glenn stated that Damar not only suffered from cardiac arrest, but he was also resuscitated twice after the unfortunate occurrence during Monday’s game. “His heart had stopped working, so they had to revive him twice,” he explained. “They resuscitated him on the field before transporting him to the hospital, and then they resuscitated him again when he arrived at the hospital.” Glenn said to CNN that he had never sobbed “that hard” before in his life. “I’m not a cryer, but I’ve never sobbed so hard in my life. “I just wanted to let you know that my nephew died on the field and they brought him back to life,” he continued.
Glenn added that Damar not only had a heart attack, but also had to be resuscitated twice following the sad incident during Monday’s game. “Since his heart had stopped functioning, they had to resuscitate him twice,” he stated. “They resuscitated him on the field before bringing him to the hospital, and they resuscitated him again when he arrived.” Glenn told CNN that he had never cried “that hard” in his life. “I’m not a cryer, but I’ve never wept so hard in my life,” he said.
Damar’s buddy and rep Jordon Rooney also provided an update on the sports star’s condition during an appearance with Robin Roberts on Tuesday’s broadcast of Good Morning America. “All I can say is that he’s battling. “He’s a fighter,” he declared. “He was awake [before], and now he’s sedated. Thus the family is in a nice mood. We’re simply taking it minute by minute, hour by hour.” When the 62-year-old inquired about the family’s well-being, Jordon replied that they were remained optimistic. “His family is extraordinary. They are an amazing set of folks. They’re powerful. They are encouraging. They’re obviously concerned. “Damar is very close to his family,” the representative stated. Jordon and Damar became close friends after Damar interned for Jordon at a marketing agency.
Afterwards, the official Twitter account for the Buffalo Bills made a statement on Jan. 3 addressing its athlete. “Damar Hamlin spent the night in the intensive care unit at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and is there today in serious condition,” the message said. “We are appreciative for the outpouring of support that we have received thus far.” Damar has played for the New York-based club since 2021 and is now sidelined till further notice. According to ESPN, he is 6 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds. He formerly played football at the University of Pittsburgh before being drafted in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills.
