Super Bowl LVII was an American football game held to determine the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 2022 season. The 57th Super Bowl was held on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, with kickoff at 4:30 p.m. MST (UTC-7). The Chiefs of the American Football Conference (AFC) beat the Eagles of the National Football Conference (NFC) 38-35. Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs was selected the game’s Most Valuable Player.

Both clubs concluded the regular season with a 14-3 record, which was the best in the league. The Chiefs were competing in their fifth Super Bowl, having previously appeared in Super Bowls I, IV, LIV, and LV. The Eagles were attempting to win their second Super Bowl following Super Bowl LII, having previously competed in Super Bowls XV and XXXIX. The Chiefs and Eagles had been in three of the previous five Super Bowls, but this was the first time the two teams would meet in the title game. The win was the Chiefs’ second in four years and their third overall.

After the Eagles led 24-14 at halftime, the Chiefs rallied to win the game 38-35 on a game-winning field goal by Harrison Butker. The aggregate score of 73 points was the third-highest in Super Bowl history. Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs was voted Super Bowl MVP 2022 after completing 21 of 27 passes for 182 yards and three touchdowns while also running six times for 44 yards. Mahomes became the first quarterback since Kurt Warner in 1999 to win both the NFL MVP and the Super Bowl. Jalen Hurts of the Eagles completed 27 of 38 passes for 304 yards and one touchdown, adding 70 yards and three more touchdowns on the ground to tie the all-time record for rushing touchdowns.

The Phoenix metropolitan region hosted its fourth Super Bowl, the most recent being Super Bowl XLIX in 2015, which was also held at State Farm Stadium (then called University of Phoenix Stadium). Fox broadcast the game nationally. Rihanna led the halftime show.
